Domestic Abuse Specialist, Raneem’s Law – Phase 2

This is not a traditional domestic abuse role. It’s an opportunity to influence the response to domestic abuse from the very first point of police contact.

The Blue Door and Humberside Police were a pilot site for Phase 1 of Raneem’s Law. Following the success and impact of that work, we have been awarded increased Home Office funding for Phase 2 and are now looking for experienced domestic abuse practitioners to help us take this work forward.

Working as an independent Domestic Abuse Specialist within Humberside Police’s Force Control Room, you’ll bring specialist knowledge directly into the environment where 999, 101 and Rapid Video Response contacts are being managed.

You’ll review calls and incidents, help identify risk and coercive control, provide trauma-informed advice and constructive professional challenge, support effective victim engagement and help strengthen pathways into specialist support.

You won’t be a police call handler, you won’t make police decisions and you won’t hold a traditional advocacy caseload.

You’ll be there to bring an independent domestic abuse perspective – working collaboratively with police colleagues while keeping survivor safety, voice and experience at the centre.

We’re looking for experienced domestic abuse practitioners with strong professional judgement, excellent communication skills and the confidence to constructively challenge practice when needed. Previous police experience is not essential.

The role involves variable shifts, including evenings and weekends, and attracts an additional £2,500 shift allowance.

There aren’t many opportunities to use your domestic abuse expertise quite like this. You’ll be joining a Home Office-funded national programme, building on Humberside’s experience as a successful Phase 1 pilot site and helping shape the next phase of this innovative work.
