The Blue Door is a part of Grimsby and Scunthorpe Rape Crisis, we’re a fast growing service with a reputation for excellence across the region, we have just expanded in to Hull & East Riding and it’s an exciting time to join us, with lots of opportunities for career development.
Expect the unexpected
At The Blue Door your working day will never go to plan, you will have plenty of autonomy and a great deal of responsibility and your flexible adaptive skills will be utilised in full, as a part of wider team, expect support from your colleagues. You will work very closely with our partner agencies, many of your team members work from within other agencies. Your job will be fast paced, pressurised, emotionally draining, yet hugely rewarding.
It is all about you
Your colleagues come from a wide variety of backgrounds with lots of different experience and expertise. Your background isn’t really important, you and your personable attributes are. The Blue Door team members are all friendly, personable, professional, warm and confident but more than anything they are passionate about what they do and why they do it. Expect to go to incredible lengths to give your clients the help and support they need when they need it the most. Nothing is ‘above and beyond’ mentality, if it means that your clients are safe, supported and heard.
Why join us?
We understand that all our team members are dedicated and committed, because of that we offer some fabulous benefits to make it as easy as possible for you. Everyone gets 35 days annual leave (including 7 day statutory holiday allowance that you can choose to take on statutory holidays, or at other times!), standard access to flexible working, for our case workers utilise fully mobile working including 4g tablets and web based case management software and essential car user allowance. All employees have access to personal training budgets, a 5% employers pension contribution (after qualifying period), access to very regular and supportive supervision and regular meetings with an independent clinical supervisor to ensure they are looking after themselves. We do all of this because we know how difficult your job can be.
Do you want to make a difference?
We are looking for people who are ready to give their next role everything they have got, people who want to make a difference every day. Experience of working in a domestic abuse or sexual violence related field isn’t necessary; in fact it’s not even desirable for most of the roles! Experience of working in a fast paced busy environment where you are dealing with the public is important, the ability to instantly put someone at ease is a core skill that we cannot teach you, being confident enough to stand up for someone else and speak out has got to be a part of who you are (we are no wallflowers), being able to engage with a huge variety of people and never making a quick judgement must be a personality trait, we would also prefer it if technology does not scare you (we love technology!), you will be comfortable and confident with a PC and MS applications, your literacy and communication skills are very strong (we write a lot of reports and go to a lot of meetings) if you have got those skills we can give you all the other things you will need to do this job.
Our recruitment process isn’t for the feint hearted, we will put you through your paces and challenge you to show us you’ve got what it takes, we have to make sure we are making the right choices. In what we do we can’t afford to get it wrong.
